Choralpalooza
CHORALPALOOZA: An area choral festival/all-day field trip hosted at Ridge High School. Including the three choirs at Ridge, five area high schools (Somerville, New Providence, Newark Academy, Hanover Park and Warren Hills) would spend the morning performing for one another. The Lunch highlight was a 40-foot dessert sale (cookies, brownies, cupcakes) provided by the members of the Ridge choirs. Directors/Accompanists/Clinician lunch was provided by the Ridge Choral Department. The cost of a clinician was split by the five participating schools. Each school prepared a piece to sing together as a Massed Choir under the direction of the clinician to close out the afternoon. The solos were divided between the six schools. The day ran from 9-2. Including area collegiate professors, clinicians of note included Nick Page, Ysaye Barnwell (Sweet Honey in the Rock) and composer Jim Papoulis. Take a look at the PDF's below.
