The SCALE GAME
Once we became proficient in the creation of Major, Natural minor, Harmonic minor and Melodic minor scales, I would announce that we would be playing the "SCALES GAME". I would set their chairs in a straight row - all facing me and the white board. Object of the game: to SPELL THE SCALE correctly in order to score a point. If there were 8 in the class, the game worked perfectly! If there were more or less, the other class members rotated in/out of the eight seats. All 4 qualities of scales were fair game. They could use their previously completed paper keyboard (which I referred to as their "best friend") to count steps and letter names as they went. They shifted seats after the completion (or failure 😪) of each scale. If the class got 5 out of 10 correct, I removed everyone's lowest grade and replaced it with an A+!!! You better believe it was a real competition for some!!!
How about BINGO? $14.95 for a lifetime subscription! Create as many boards as you'd like. Very easy to play online!! I also used this for my three choirs!
